The Opportunity

The purpose of this position is to produce, underwrite and service primary commercial accounts with a focus on commercial auto that are submitted to and written through the Mobility Unit in accordance with the Underwriting Mandate, business appetite and profitably goals. This includes the management and administration of individual risk insurance policies, both admitted and non-admitted. This position will encompass autonomous vehicle exposures and tech-enabled fleet risks.

In this position you will:
  • Underwrite, price and monitor insurance business while achieving profitability targets
  • Maintain professional relationships with existing or prospective clients and production sources
  • Establish/maintain production/underwriting strategies for assigned production sources/accounts/lines of business
  • Possess a clear understanding of our underwriting guidelines and pricing guidelines; maintain an in-depth knowledge of all tools and models used in the underwriting process; maintain compliance with Corporate Underwriting and Divisional underwriting guidelines
  • Price business using the existing pricing models/methodologies
  • As directed, serve on "ad hoc" committees to provide input and assistance to management, i.e., GLoBBs
  • Work with Product Development to develop manuscript policy/contract language
  • Provide policy issuance instructions for single risk business
  • Develop underwriting guidelines as needed
  • Work with actuary and product development to develop rating plans and pricing tools when necessary
  • Work with marketing and broker relationship leaders to enhance market presence


Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of Insurance Carrier primary Commercial Auto underwriting, related Bachelor welcome.
  • Excess and surplus lines and multi-line experience and knowledge helpful
  • Strong client & broker focus and the ability to identify clients' needs and transform these into business
  • Openness to employing advanced methods of data analytics in underwriting and business generation therefore analytical and computer skills.
  • Ability to think outside the box, assess risk and exposures using non-traditional methods and be comfortable making underwriting decisions combining using traditional and non-traditional tools and methods
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Has an entrepreneurial spirit, self-starter
  • Willingness to travel 20%

The base salary range anticipated for this position is $91,800 - 134,600plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in NYC and California. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
