Job Purpose:

This role is responsible for the Program Management, Development and Administration of Program Business and Program Business relationships with external MGA/MGU Program Managers to support the Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance business. This includes managing existing MGA/MGU Program Managers along with the identification of new Program Managers to cultivate relationships for placement of P&C business in niche markets and various industry segments.

This role will have responsibility for the establishment of appropriate underwriting protocols and controls such as creating/managing underwriting authority and guidelines for specific programs with on-going monitoring, performing periodic on-site or remote underwriting audits and managing overall Program performance and results.

This position works with other cross-functional teams and Product Development functions such as Product Management, P&C Actuarial, Claims and TPA Claims Administrators, Underwriting, Finance and Accounting to improve the overall customer experience , satisfaction, profitability, quality and consistency to meet the Program Business objectives and to ensure decisions contribute to a profitable Program Business portfolio along with the overall achievement of the Corporate business plan and objectives.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Program Business Director and Product leaders in building strategy to help drive the Program Business group's plan including managing and executing the Program Business strategy to ensure contribution to the business plan and objectives.
  • Solicit, develop and review new or potential P&C Program Business clients including conducting the initial vetting and evaluation including due diligence of new Program opportunities.
  • Forge and maintain strong professional relationships with existing or prospective Program Administrators by serving as the primary point of contact and relationship manager with TruStage.
  • Develop underwriting guidelines, authority and policy for Program Managers that is designed to perform well throughout various market cycles.
  • Conduct in-person or remote underwriting audits of assigned Programs business. When appropriate, assists Program Business Director on other Programs for peer reviews or underwriting audits.
  • Collaborate with in-house staff underwriting team and Program Managers to set appropriate Underwriting Authorities
  • Work in close collaboration with cross-functional teams including Actuarial, Product, Finance, Treasury and Claims teams.
  • Develop/maintain tools to monitor and improve the communication of essential compliance information for the Program Managers to ensure that monthly data collection and information sharing practices support TruStage Corporate standards.
  • Travel as required to meet with Program Managers, Brokers, Reinsurance Intermediaries, Claim TPA's and other clients, including traveling to Industry association meetings and conferences.
  • Participates in associations, conventions and bureaus. Identifies emerging trends for use in market development and develops strategies to manage risks.
  • Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs and properly accounting for expenses to meet financial requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Insurance, Finance, Economics or related field of study is strongly preferred.
  • Strong underwriting, marketing, client management and analytical skills that have been developed over 10+ years of P&C Insurance experience with demonstrated increasing level of responsibility.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience in progressively senior underwriting roles with strong technical skills and experience underwriting a wide range of Property and Casualty lines of business and products including Property, General Liability, Automobile Liability and Physical Damage Liability along with Professional Liability.
  • Full understanding and a strong grasp of Policy Forms, Coverages and Pricing Schemes with an understanding of the role and impact on Claims, Actuarial, Finance, Accounting and Bureau Reporting in the underwriting process.
  • Strong ability to form long-term relationships and partnerships with Program Managers, Brokers and Reinsurance partners.
  • Proven skill in influencing and negotiating with a willingness to involve cross-functional teams in the decision-making process.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal and formal presentation) that energizes and engages clients and colleagues with the ability to convey a vision with client-focused solutions and outcomes.
  • Proven capability in strategic thinking and innovation while being able to work independently and function tactically with a strong work ethic.

Base Salary Range:
$114,600.00 - $171,800.00
