Position summary:

A diverse opportunity has arisen to join our European claims team. The vacancy provides the opportunity to manage a portfolio of Reinsurance claims across a number of lines of business including motor, property & casualty, life, accident & health along with credit & surety.

In addition, the role includes the opportunity to undertake external client facing work, build relationships, analyze account performance, participate in client visits, and work closely with our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze initial claim notifications, including coverage verification and associated checks for excess of loss contracts across multiple lines of business.
  • Maintain electronic claims files and validate reserve bookings and payments in line with authority matrix.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX and risk control frameworks.
  • Liaise with brokers and clients in respect of claim queries, anomalies, and general account management.
  • Participate in the claims audit programme (some travel is required with this role), conducting onsite & remote meetings. Produce written analysis of findings for presentation to internal stakeholders including underwriting and actuarial functions.
  • Undertake analysis of contract performance using a mix of data review and technical file audits.
  • Regular interaction with underwriters, pricing and reserving actuaries to present claims trends, account performance and updates on claims initiatives.
  • Attendance at market review meetings and participation in market forums, promoting the best interests of the business.
  • Attendance at settlement meetings, JSM's, legal conferences and mediations, where appropriate.
  • Quarterly monitoring of annuities exposure, working with the actuarial team to ensure compliance with reserving policy.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in an insurance or reinsurance claims team handling relevant lines of business.
  • Must be confident, with a desire to meet new people and undertake external facing work including client audits, review meetings, monthly account management analysis etc.
  • Commercial judgement required to progress technical/complex reinsurance claims/disputes.
  • Ability to analyze coverage under insurance and reinsurance contracts.
  • Strong organizational and mathematical skills.
  • German as an additional language is preferrable but not essential.
  • Ability to provide clear written reports and analysis of losses and account performance .
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels and in all areas of the organization, as well as with clients and other external stakeholders.
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • A relevant legal or insurance qualification (or progress towards) such as Cert CII, DIP CII, ACII, Qualified Solicitor or ILEX is an advantage.
